Bio

Professor Marc, a third-degree black belt certified by Charles Gracie, leads our expert Jiu-Jitsu training at Kids Sparks in Nevada.

When did you start BJJ?

I started training in 2002, after watching a UFC with some friends who trained. They invited me, I went, and the rest is history.

What about coaching do you like, or why do you coach?

I enjoy coaching because I get to share a piece of myself, and help promote what I think helps make better people and a better world. Building relationships with students and their families is a wonderful thing that brings me joy.

What is your favorite position to teach?

My Jiu-Jitsu philosophy is to get on top and stay on top, that said, mount and back are my favorites. Teaching sweeps, passing and positional advancement are where I focus a lot of my attention.

What three BJJ habits do you consider essential?

Drilling Sparring Consistent training

What has training BJJ taught you?

Training BJJ has helped me develop self-confidence, shown me humility, and the importance of taking care of your body and mind.

When you are not on the mat, how else do you like to spend your time?

When I’m not running my construction management consulting business, I’m either hiking, hunting, fishing, or all three at the same time.
